The campout was a success again. We were set up in a different spot this year, and it worked very well. We will be using the area, which is close to the shower room and adventure playground, from now on.
Paul Menta helped the owners with the construction of a temporary shelter for our barbecues and tables. It worked well and may become a permanent fixture. The weather was incredibly nice this year, there was lots of sun on Saturday and just enough rain early Sunday morning to keep the dust down for the Pancake Breakfast. The Pot Luck Supper was back by popular demand on Saturday night and for good reason, it was fabulous.
The Largest Fish for Women was caught by Stacey Smith, (Smitty’s daughter). The Largest Fish for Men was caught by Ralph Blackwood.
The Largest Fish for Kids were caught by Jodi Bot (ten years and under), Brayden Johnstone (ten years and under), Michelle Varga (over ten years) and Matt Menta (over ten years).
I would like to thank Paul Berrington, his wife Wendy, and their kids for running the event. We had lots of helpers during the course of the weekend. A tip of the hat to Margaret Varga, Al Miller, Bill (Smitty) and Trish Smith, Audrey Barr and Gloria Harland for pitching in.
I would like to thank the Entertainment Committee for their time and effort. Shopping for most of the food and prizes was done by Audrey Barr, Leanne Willard and Angie Alexander-Paul. The other Entertainment Committee members who helped set up the event were Robbie Borden and Jim Kittle. Bill Zeman helped with setting up and cleaning up before, during and after the event. Deb Roseleine also helped out in-between her son’s Grad functions, taking most of the photos for the website. A special thanks goes to Dorothy Hidlebaugh for donating a generous amount of her specialty chocolates (in the shape of fish). The kids and the adults enjoyed the treats.
Thanks to all who attended and helped with our event. See you next year, same place, same time.
In solidarity,
Ron Goffic
